It’s funny because it used to be the far left that didn’t like the police. Now if anything I think the right side of politics likes them even less.

They would much rather arrest someone for saying silly nonsense online than pursuing burglary’s, muggings, knife crime and other more prolific offences.

They don’t really handle ‘crime’ they just ‘handle’ the victims

The police never existed to solve or prevent crimes.

A huge part of the issue is that even when criminals are caught they aren’t punished by the courts. Most ‘Low Level’ crime is simply not punished in any meaningful way. Is it any wonder the plod themselves have stopped caring about going after shoplifters/burglars/ASBO scrotes, when so often nothing happens to them anyway.
We’re piss poor at rehabilitation, punishment and public protection, and it just rots society from the inside.

Which is odd, as the solve rate has been increasing this last year.
BUT THE WINTER CRUISE ALLOWANCE!

Chasing tweets and filming tiktok videos rather than policing violent crime and antisocial behaviour is bound to alienate the public.

Well yes, they are crap. I just deal with it myself if anything bad happens to my family, it has unfortunately resulted in me going to prison before but it was worth it for me personally. We don’t trust the police at all.

Anytime I get into a situation where the police are in theory meant to help, I never ring the police. You grow up and you realise the police aren’t there to always help you.

Police are so underfunded and don’t have the staffing to investigate all crime. If more money was put into important things like policing and less into things like supporting illegal immigrants and people who shouldn’t be on benefits, the country would be doing far better.

My experience of the police is that they are utterly useless.
My van got broken into, my livelihood stolen, ability to pay my mortgage, feed my kids, police never even bother to turn up. I’m tidying the street in the piss wet rain at 4am of my things that are strewn all over the place. The people that are supposed to be there for you didn’t give a single shit.
Get given some overly complicated form in the post a few weeks later and they never got back to me when I asked for help with it.
I used to have so much respect for the police but now I’m on the side of the scrotes that call that fucking useless pigs
I wouldn’t ring the police for an issue and I wouldn’t help the police if they needed help. Can go fuck themselves.

Slightly tangential: I don’t blame the police at all for the current shit show. Any time I have dealt with them, including being arrested and held overnight, they were polite, professional, reasonable etc.
But the fact we have defacto legalised most crime is pissing me off. But you can’t blame the police for a lack of courts, prison cells or government guidance saying to not prosecute.

I feel like this is my issue with the recent charges against vigilantes. Ideally yes you don’t want vigilantes, but realistically when the police basically have decided to just not do their job any more what else even is the option?
The whole basis of stopping those kinds of people and our restrictive self defence laws was on the basis that you let the police handle it, but they’re not handling it. Yet we’re still charging people for trying to deal with criminals that the police can’t be arsed with. It’s like a machine that’s only partially running but in a malfunctioning way and is just damaging the area around it.
All they really seem to do is stop other people from dealing with the problems they don’t want to deal with, making the crime situation even worse. If the justice system don’t want to do their job they we need to radically rethink our self defence and citizens action laws.

This is entirely due to a lack of funding and manpower in policing, up and down the nation.
In my own force, every investigator that I speak with has in excess of 50 criminal investigations sitting in their worktray. They aren’t supposed to have more than 10, because it has been acknowledged that it isn’t physically possible to properly investigate any more than that in a timely fashion.
Those same officers that have those 50+ investigations are also being pulled away from those investigations to sit at hospital with prisoners, or to guard crime scenes. They are being pulled away to police football games, or protests. They have far, far too much work, and nowhere near enough time to do it.
If you want crime to be properly investigated, then police need far more funding, and far more people.

Reputation is in the bin. They go after the wrong people and when they do get the right people they plead not guilty. It goes to court and somehow the jury let them off on 3 out of 4 charges . A lot of crime doesn’t get reported because people have lost faith. I’d bet on a rise in vigilante activity because of this. Nasty feedback loop if you asked me

How strange, it’s like victim satisfaction was highest when police numbers and funding were at a peak, then dropped off as they were hit with cuts. They even have exactly the same shaped graphs. Satisfaction is now the lowest since the last time police numbers were last this low.
Clearly a total mystery on how to improve things.

As someone who was attacked and woke up in the hospital after a date, the way i had to actively chase and beg for any police attention means I have absolutely zero trust and faith in the police any more
