In questo giorno del 1991, l’Estonia ha ripristinato la sua indipendenza dopo mezzo secolo di occupazione straniera. Dal 1940 al 1991, l’Estonia era sotto l’occupazione illegale sovietica (e brevemente nazista).

a beautiful small country with very nice people ……
Happy rebirthday!
Lovely country, we welcome you as Nordic friends!
“illegal” what? Every occupation is an occupation… Not legal or illegal. Only the baltics use this “illegal”.
Edit: to all the butthurt people. I am not justifying the occupation. I am just saying that only the baltics have this stupid notion of it being illegal. There is no such thing as an illegal or a legal occupation, it just happens.
Happy independence day ๐ฑ๐น ๐ค ๐ช๐ช

Important to note that the Soviet occupation didn’t start from the “liberation” from the Nazis in 1944, but in 1940 – before the German occupation and during a time the Soviets were allied to the Nazis.
Good for you guys
Long live Estonia and blessed be all Free Nations of Europe!
terrible place
Long live free Estonia
Our brother country! Congrats from Finland.
Visited Tallinn and got immersed in Estonian history. Stay strong our brothers from the Baltic, much love from Romania!
Okay. It’s legal or illegal occupation now.
Every military presents viewed as occupation is illegal for human nature.
Congratulations dear brothers & sisters! ๐ฑ๐นโฅ๏ธ๐ช๐ช
Happy anniversary! Wonderful country and people, I love to visit. It’s amazing how fast the country transformed.
Wait I have a genuine question, what’s the difference between occupating a country and annexing a country? Because I thought Estonia was one of the countries inside the USSR, not occupied territory. Or is it something like “They installed a puppet government and integrated it into the union”?

Best wishes from Canada, and fellow North Atlantic friends, Iโve been to Estonia, and it was beautiful.
Edited to remove โhappy Independence Dayโ
Estonia was not under Nazi occupation. Estonian elites and majority of society welcomed and embraced nazism.
To this day, Estonia celebrates their nazi soldiers.
Gratz! And let’s keep it that way.
For some countries ww2 did not end 1945 but only in 1991.
