Another useless article re: energy prices. £15 (or £17 in the next paragraph) for a typical bill gives me absolutely no information about what it’ll mean for me.

Gas prices are near a 1 year low and have been dropping for months. Not sure how they can justify a rise.
Glad I am on a tracker rate so that I can ignore this price cap nonsense. Currently paying 4.68p kwh.

So when they said they would raise bills initially then they would slowly drop afterwards, that was a lie then.
What this feels like is the population is being progressively gaslit that price drops are right around the corner, just wait one more pricing round and it’ll all be affordable again. Aren’t people sick of being lied to like this?

Why would anyone expect anything different?
All time high levels of wind generation, solar panel farms popping up all over the shop and energy companies reporting record profits…
None of it makes a single bit of difference. Just lube up and bend over
Desperate_Drama2204 on
That’s the impact of adding more wind and solar to the grid. It will only ever push prices up.
Still, people prefer to believe the easily disproven lies about wind and solar because it makes them feel good.

Prices never come down – it’s a myth.
Once they know they can have it they don’t give it up.

Anyone who believed that they wouldn’t well I dunno what to say. Glad we fixed.

Oh what a surprise, bet the bosses get a decent bonus though.

Electricity costs are holding back this country from strong economic growth. High energy industries are not competitive.

We have one of the highest energy bills in Europe and yet we’re still paying without complaints. There’s no reason for energy providers to lower prices.

Think this highlights why privatisation doesnt work, these companies have no incentive to keep prices low and can fudge numbers to regulators to justify price increases.

They will never lower the prices because they know they can get away with it

What a really round-a-bout way to create a new tax. And let’s call it what it is

It’s not caused by wholesale costs, that’s only halfish of the bill. The rest is stuff added on like investing in networks and green solutions.

Energy prices in this country are a national emergency. Bad for everyone but shareholders, funny how that seems such a common cause and we can do nothing about it.
