The folks here, probably haven’t read it or know who Lambrakis even was
/s (not)
I can say I liked it very much but it pretty much frightened me when I read it (2016) and also watched the movie…Then September 2018 citizens+ policemen murdered an lgbtqi+ activist on the streets, in broad daylight.
Greece is not what it used to be. You can study its history before, maybe better the ancient history. But yeah, the patterns are there as well. Its like the very much essence of this race is cursed. The country is ruled by fascists, but guess what, it always has been (under different regime names). The slaves of Pericles, the murder of Kapodistrias, what happened to Mavrogenous, the murder of Lamprakis. Same shit, different era. There are just a few of hundreds of examples referring to the saying known as “Greece eats her children”
The people here may pretend to be kind and warm to tourists, but generaly they are assholes. Give them power and take away the consequences, and they are animals, exactly like what happened in Z. I encourage anyone willing to visit this shithole, not to, and I hope to leave and never return one day, that much I fucking hate it. Not to be misunderstood…The land and the scenery are beautiful. It’s one of the most beautiful places. The people, the mindset, the destruction of the natural beauty, the indifference, makes all the greek experience rotten to the core.
It is a very good book.
Unfortunately many people have mostly forgotten, or don’t feel the need to know about those years.
Some are actively trying to change the narrative…
Just like with WW2 at a western global scale…
