use baskets, fold your clothes into them
You get something like this for example:

Or any other similar items the markets are full of. There are built in systems as well but those are a bit more expensive of course.
I don’t have baskets, I just fold on top things that I don’t use often (swimsuits, shorts during the winter, base layers on summer)
Down folded tops, long sleeves to the right, short sleeve to the left)
Then folded pants, jeans to the right, soft pants to the left
And bottom unwear.
Hanging dresses, button ups, vests and hoodies.
Nothing on the back, only at sight clothes get ever used
Baskets and folding konmari-style, so shirts etc ’stand up’ instead of being in a pile. Also, hang up all clothes that can tolerate it.
I don’t think there is any magic trick, other than just having less stuff. People tend to accumulate useless stuff in their homes: clothes they don’t use, useless decorative trinkets, every bedsheet they have ever owned, decorative pillows they don’t use… just get rid of them.
I have these exact ones, except they’re filled with the Komplement Mesh basket with pull-out rail. It works really well for any clothes and textiles that can be folded. I have a clothes rail inside one of them for clothes that need hanging. Then I have some soft fabric boxes for stuff that I don’t use often (like sweaters in summer), Ikea has several kinds that are compatible with Pax.
I guess you could ask your landlord about getting you some of them, or buy some themselves.
I had the same problem. I also have lots of the same color shirts and it drove me nut trying to find the one I wanted without making a mess until I found the stacking system like 👇. Have been using them for many years and they work perfectly. Only problem is with the thick clothes but I can just hang them.
