That’s not Dennis Schroder, that’s Dennis Schröder.

i mean from what i saw in Germany when i was there on the Basketball courts they mostly have his Jersey and all the kids yell “SCHRODER” when shooting alongisde doing his 3 celebration, maybe he talks about older population? He made basketball very popular in Germany ngl since winning the MVP and FIBA World Cup.

He needs a mvp season, finals mvp, nba champion and a few k points more and the color will be fine

I can understand where he’s coming from but also Dennis is good, but Dirk was on another level and I think also had another personality.
So it’s hard to compare. Also Dennis got traded so often I don’t even know where he’s playing right now.

Dirk is one of the all time greats of the nba, Schröder is not there yet. Also he is quite known in Germany but dirk had another presence, also marketing wise and had an outstanding career so it’s quite difficult to match that

I doubt that, there are plenty of “dark skinned” players in the football too for example and all of them are viewed with respect.
How ever, Dirk was one of the all time greats. The respect and admiration he received was earned through his succes and respect.

He will never receive the same love because he will never achieve what Dirk did

Dirk was a much better NBA player obviously. Despite the NT success, it’s tough to beat an MVP and FMVP

Is it really because he’s black or is it because he’s not as good as Dirk?
I mean you Germans can tell me more but wasnt Boateng well regarded? Surely not like Beckenbauer, but still wasnt he highly regarded or is it just us foreign football fans who noticed him.

Dirk is simply much better

A friend of mine is going to be accepted as a doctor in a hospital but has to do B2 Beruf First. Ok, they do it and the focus is on cleaning and other menial jobs. Half the class has a higher degree than the teacher but they are still treated like: you will never make it here.
I thought the country changed in 2006 but apparently we fell back into old habits

I feel citing racism is a foul call. Dennis Schröder is not even close (yet) to the professional achievements of Dirk Nowitzki. Ten years down the road, that might be different, but as of now, Nowitzki outclasses Schröder professionally by leagues.

For some people, definitely.
For most Germans – no. That’s not the reason.
Dirk was a down-to-earth professional who built a legacy in Dallas.
Dennis has had several episodes of arrogance and changes clubs more often than some people change their underwear.

The „I don‘t get enough love“ part is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Regarding the skin color: No. It depends on marketing and how good someone is.

I’m pretty sure dirk was just the first really good German basketball player, this will always be something special.
Schröder is very popular though, I don’t think a lot of basketball fans really care about skin color.

I don’t even know what to say.
No-one will ever be as loved as a breakout talent and pioneer – that has NOTHING to do with skin colour.
Nobody will EVER reach the fame of Tony Hawk either. Everybody knows these names without having anything to do with the sport.
This really isn’t the way to fight racism but I guess when you encounter it at every corner it’s easy to come to that conclusion.

Playing the racism card while not being in the same realm as Dirk is, will make it surely better.

We love players that stay true to their club.
Dirk played 20 years for the Dallas Mavericks.
Dennis has his 9th or 10th move to another team since 2018.

Sebastian Veddel never came close to Schumi’s admiration. I can understand that he sees it that way and perhaps the different skin color is an obstacle to identification for some people, but I think it is much more due to his lack of media presence in DE. Possibly also a sum of various factors.

So he’s complaining in advance?
