Admittedly she kind of mentally cooked herself but she really lives rent free in transactivist heads.

Whatever your political views are, they have no place in a language lesson. It’s just bad business, as evidenced by the fact that duolingo apologised. I don’t like Donald Trump but I don’t want to talk about how much I don’t like him when I’m trying to learn a language.

This article is awful lol. It has about 2 lines about the actual subject and then spends 10 times as long talking about completely different situations.

Anybody criticizing JK Rowling will be on the wrong side of history
She’s the first female billionaire and most successful author of all-time. Even Martin Luther and Dante didn’t sell as much as her. That’s all kids will remember 500 years from now.

How strange, just when it is in free fall Sunday it does things to be relevant, at least momentarily and totally artificially.

I would have apologized too, it should have translated to “bitch”

Describing JK Rowling as mean is indeed a mistake. Too mild.

She is demonstrably mean spirited.

Is it apologising cause its downplaying how awful she is?

Apologizes for not being harsh enough, right?

Duolingo is pretty famous for having really weird and nonsensical sentences that feel randomly generated. “Tomorrow I will eat a purple statue” kinda stuff.
I suspect the sentence in question was likely randomly generated. Duolingo probably have a policy not to make editorial comments about public figures (even giant arseholes like JK), precisely cause this kind of situation doesn’t benefit them at all.

Fun coincidence Ursula LeGuin used that exact word about the books (long before JKR started talking about trans issues).

I don’t understand why they’re adding personal views in a language app?
