Clearly has no concept that perhaps there isn’t a need to describe a women in reference to a vague racial characteristic at all! Just say they look different, more oval/round whatever – most GB news viewers can probably handle basic shape awareness.
To be honest, not sure any viewers are going to be that bothered – and compared to the sewage they broadcast regularly, I doubt this comment would have raised any eyebrows (if the Botox allows that) if no “apology” had been broadcast.

Calling someone “Oriental” in 2025 isn’t just old fashioned, it’s offensive.. its been a societal norm for years that the word shouldn’t be used to describe anyone’s race or appearance, so acting like it’s all a big overreaction just makes him look out of touch..
The worst bit wasn’t even the word itself, it was how defensive he got instead of just holding his hands up and apologising properly.. Katona might not have minded but that’s not the point..
Language matters, especially from someone with his platform.. When you’re in that position, you’ve got a responsibility to keep up with the times rather than just dig your heels in..

I’ve never ever heard anyone say Oriental is offensive? Reading the reasoning behind it really feels like people are grasping for a reason to be upset by it. I’ve never met anyone be offended by it, strange. Oriental Kitchen? Orient Express? The orient? All now offensive?
That being said, it’s not like it was a word I use on the regular. So it wont be hard to not use it. But jesus christ this has to be ragebait?
Has anyone genuinely heard someone use the word oriental in an offensive way? Using the word Chinese (to describe all SEA and East Asians) or the other clearly offensive word is way more common in the uk.
