*”We lost our rights, freedom of speech went! I had enough, I ain’t doing it no more. I’m off.”*

I really don’t understand what people are getting at when they spout this rhetoric, what rights or freedom of speech have we lost?

The “Britain has fallen” narrative is such snowflakery despite the biggest purveyors being the most likely to say “you can’t say anything nowadays”

These people are just poor and racist

They’d rather say ‘Britain has gone to shit’ rather than to just admit they don’t have enough money to retire here

I recently moved to spain and joined some ‘expat” groups, to potentially look for work and it honestly has some gems. People getting angry at being called an immigrant,  brits complaining that spain shouldn’t be in the EU ans it’s only in the EU to get “handouts” , complaining about immigrants in Spain  (the brown ones) and in the UK , saying they left the UK cus it’s too left wing (like literally completely unaware spain is one of the most left wing countries in europe) and posting British style Nimby shit,  Trying to oppose housing building or infrastructure around their golf villas or whatever. (BTW this doesn’t work in spain at all) they’re a joke and you have to laugh at them

If you are an immigrant in a foreign country you don’t get to complain about immigrants in your home country.

I bet she doesn’t think she is an immigrant because she’s an “expat”. FFS.

      She’s a hypocrite.

But so are people who judge her and other brits emigrating to Spain but don’t judge immigrants coming to the uk.

I thought this quote was good:

“David Head, a translator, added: ‘She’s a foreigner in Benidorm, yet she complains of too many foreigners in UK. Such minds gave us Brexit.’”

The irony is that these people have a point, at one level. The UK is currently in a tough spot and has been for several years:

      – electricity prices among highest in world
      – train prices among highest in world
      – English student costs highest in world
      – housing costs are horrific
      – 9 million (21%) are not working and classed as “economically inactive “
      – job vacancies are either the lowest for 4 years or 9 years depending on who you believe
      – uk national debt interest costs are reaching the highest since the 90s.

Immigration is only part of the problem for these problems. For example, very low rates of house building have led to high housing costs really.

In 1930s Germany, tough economic conditions saw the Nazi party gain popularity. Are we destined to repeat this mistake?

When white English speakers move abroad they are ‘expats.’ When anyone from abroad moves to a predominantly white, English spreaking country they are immigrants. ‘Expats’ genuinely believe they are somehow different to immigrants.

    10. A relative of my SO moved to Spain in the 60s when she herself was in her 60s. She was one of the first Brits to make the Costa Blanca her retirement destination. She learned Spanish before moving, fully embraced local culture and contributed by volunteering.

She didn’t leave Britain because she hated it, she left because she wanted a different experience of life. She lived well into her nineties and so saw the mass invasion of Brits into Benidorm. All of a sudden this critical mass was achieved and everything around her turned into little Britain. ‘Just like Britain but only the bad, people with no manners, no culture and no brains.’ as she wrote in a letter to my SO the year before she died.

I love these kinds of posts because everyone will point out how Brits will refuse to integrate into Spain and how she’s a hypocrite, while conveniently ignoring the fact that exactly the same arguments can be made for immigrants coming here and refusing to integrate. It exposes two kinds of hypocrisy.

This reminded me of that one lady who went to Benidorm and then complained about her hotel having “too many Spaniards” (in the national press no less). Complete lack of self awareness.

What she means is there are too many non white people in the UK. As she is white she can go anywhere and it’s no problem.
