I was thinking about this recently and originally I was totally against the proposed tourist tax on hotel stays, but now that I think about it I am actually in favour of it as council’s might actually do something about illegal airbnb’s if they were losing out on tax revenue to them, right now vast majority of council’s do not give a crap about enforcing laws against these illegal airbnb’s as they have no incentive to, so they are certainly not going to waste resources fighting against them.
