      > a drought order to alter its licence on the River Test … allow the company to draw higher than usual quantities of water, and would permit Southern to continue drawing from the Test, even when it falls below flow levels scientists have deemed ecologically safe for the river.

Who is more important – the otters and salmon in the river or washing my car?

This needs to be absolutely refused – and the river needs to be checked on to make sure they don’t do it anyway.

Devastating an irreplaceable natural ecosystem because of a private companies lack of ability to properly plan and maintain is an insane way to turn a country into a wasteland.

    3. The country needs water. Build reservoirs and *drain rivers. If you are concerned about water use put the price of water up.

    4. Private companies simply cannot be trusted to operate or manage essential finite resources like water. The profit motive in the water industry is in direct conflict with sustainability and the interests of the rest of society, including other businesses.

This is one nationalisation the whole of society from right to left should be begging for.
