The lessons of our shared ideals — from the North to the South, and East to West — are wholesome and not just wholesome, but appealing, to young and old. Pericles is the first to make the point in his Funeral Oration to the Athenians.
Some people fight, and struggle, not out of fear or promise of riches, but in order to protect a way of life. Only such people, Pericles argued, are truly free.
It’s a shame our leaders make it seem otherwise, but there is so much support here in the states. Very sweet of your kid to make that, they’re being raised with empathy, something we really could use more of.
