Fun fact – Canadians were extremely feared during the world wars! Not only did they seem to enjoy close quarters combat (especially assaulting trenches), they’d use tactics that at the time were considered extreme – such as attacking during “holidays” or late at night! They also weren’t very keen on taking prisoners of war (not live ones anyway), would sometimes trick the germans by throwing food in their trench a couple of times until they’d earn their trust and then switch to grenades, and were big fans of poison gas!
They were however very respectful to civilians, which the women seemed to appreciate seeing as there were a lot of half Canadian babies in western Europe in 1946!
