    1. Ridiculous whiners. Don’t screw up the bins and you won’t get a photo.

      >“It kind of feels like it is about shaming people,”

It is. Thats the whole point.

We know that shame is one of the only ways to get people to change their behaviour. Shame and financial punishment, very little else works.

What’s so difficult about putting right things into right bins?

It’s such a simple task, yet for some reason we end up needing overcomplicated ReTurn contraptions.

      > I had around four pizza boxes in my black bin waste and they should be placed in the recycling bin. I live nearby a pizza takeout, so these pizza boxes were put into my bin after I put it out for collection

I was under the impression that pizza boxes being contaminated would go in the general bin, not the recycling one.

Shaming your customers and invading their privacy who would have thought such a thing would inspire people to improve their habits.

How does this shit even get past the initial idea stage. Now a fucking bin company is playing big brother and if you happen to accidentally put the wrong thing in a bin you’ll get this.

    6. TufnelAndI on

If those fuckers showed up to collect when they’re supposed to, I’d be OK with this.

    7. Top-Exercise-3667 on

Thought you can’t put cardboard into the green bin if has any food use? So a pizza box surely can’t be put in or has this changed?

      >Panda says that the images are anonymised, and it isn’t possible for them to be linked to an individual.

Except….they’re sending pictures of your bins to you? So they must be linked somewhere? Am I misunderstanding this?

Generally I’m OK with the initiative, but if there is a precursor to fines for misappropriation of waste (which you can be sure it is) then I think the waste companies should be forced to provide lockable bins. I’ve had people dump waste in my bin left outside waiting collection on more than one occasion. Don’t fine me unless I can be certain people are not using my bin without permission.

Why are they policing black bins though? I understand green and brown, but black doesn’t make any sense

      >bin imaging system was effective in bringing contamination levels in bins down from 50 to 5 per cent.

      Those are pretty good results

    12. RubyRossed on

If it was limited to the green and brown bins, chiding people for putting the wrong things in those bins I wouldn’t have a problem.

Taking pictures of the black bin is different in my opinion and crosses a line. I got an email saying the yoghurt carton in the black bin should have gone in the green bin. The reason why I put a soiled yogurt carton in the black bin is no one’s business.

    13. > the percentage of green bins being contaminated with non recyclable waste fell from 50 per cent to 5 per cent

Wait?! Half the people are putting the nonrecyclable stuff in the recycling bin? Zero sympathy.

Sorry, this isn’t “I live near a take away” this is people trying to cheat.

      Bigger question:

How does an Irish bin company get the name Panda?

I would have thought Pheasant Waste or Feck-it would have been more apt names, since we don’t have native pandas, on our shores that I know of.

    15. Apprehensive_Ratio80 on

Hate to be the devil’s advocate but I agree with this!

Moved in with the misses 2 year ago and she treated the recycling bin the same as the ordinary bin 🤦🏻‍♂️

Rotten food, milk 🤮 eggs, wet waste etc. she would just throw it in on top of the cardboard recycling I had taken time to separate over the weeks and destroyed it all! That’s what the companies have to deal with when they collect massive amounts of waste but so many fools put dirty food and nappies and horrible sh!t it ruins so much and it’s not a hard rule to follow!

    16. Jester-252 on

      Nah fuck this.

I’m paying these cunts to manage my waste, they can fucking manage.

It’s bad enough, I now have to manage my plastic/can.

It’s bad enough these cunts are looking to more because they aren’t getting my plastic/cans

Now they want to shame me for not doing the job I’m paying them to do.

It is one thing to put waste in the correct but fuck your mother if you want me to process it for you.

    17. I got a letter before because I had a black bag full of bits ot cardboard and I got the letter a few years back… CSI stuff lol.

Amyways, I just put the bags further down the bin.

      No more letters.

    18. No_Journalist3811 on

Fuck panda. They are owned by a vulture fund.

Currently putting small independent bin companies out of business by any means necessary.

      Do not support this company

Worrying, looks like I’m gonna have to find a new way to dispose of those body parts.

“I can’t figure out or am too lazy to recycle properly and I don’t like being called out on it” is a direct translation
