If (minimal humanitarian) conditions are not met, recognizing De Wever as a Prime Minister is pointless and counterproductive.
If Belgium is not even capable of just recognizing Palestine (as the 95% of the rest of the world), what are you able to do against a genocidal state like Israel, mr De Wever.
Shame on your cynical position.
Demilitarisation of Hamas doesn’t seem to be that much of a high bar in exchange for recognition.
Nevertheless the time has come for Belgium to advocate for stronger restraints om Israeli actions.

Classic De Wever*. Defining himself what is reasonable, pointless and counterproductive pretending to be neutral, while it is clear that he has taken a stance.
1) Security guarantees only for Israel: He frames Israel as the one needing protection, despite it being the strongest military power in the region (with U.S. backing, and overwhelming conventional force). There’s no mention of security guarantees for Palestinians who live under occupation and bombardment.
2) Demilitarization = erasure of Palestinian resistance: In practice, this means Palestinians must give up armed resistance entirely, while Israel’s militarization is never questioned. One side keeps its weapons, the other has to lay them down. Why? Because Israel sees Hamas and Palestina as one and the same.
3) Recognition only if Palestine accepts non-existence:
Recognition is framed as “logical” only if Palestinians meet conditions that strip them of sovereignty. A demilitarized entity, with no reciprocal security guarantees is hardly a state to begin with.
*He uses the same style of wording when talking about things like Climate Change. Inventing things like Climate Realism, where he gets to decide what is realistic or not.

Het staat buiten kijf dat Hamas sowieso finished is zodra de oorlog eindigt. Alle Arabische landen zijn het erover eens dat Hamas weg moet en de Palestijnse Autoriteiten (PA) de macht moeten overnemen. Het is juist het feit dat Netanyahu de oorlog niet wilt eindigen -om niet in de gevangenis te eindigen voor corruptie- en ironisch genoeg Hamas ‘gemilitariseerd’ houdt.

Het is Netanyahu die alle deals blokkeert omdat hij strafrechtelijk beschuldigd wordt van[corruptie, omkoping en valsheid in geschrifte.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_of_Benjamin_Netanyahu). Hij zit in een coalitie met letterlijke fascisten (zoek eens op Smotrich & Ben-Gvir) die alle Gazanen willen deporteren of uitmoorden als ze niet bereid zijn om weg te trekken. En zij dreigen hem politiek te laten vallen indien hij de oorlog stopzet en niet overgaat tot de annexatie van Gaza & Westbank. En als Netanyahu van de macht zou vallen en zijn politieke immuniteit zou verliezen, dan zou hij voor de rest van zijn leven in de gevangenis rotten.

Dit is pure bullshit, gezien 57 moslimlanden al decennialang hebben aangegeven dat ze bereid zijn om die veiligheidsgaranties te bieden indien er een tweestatenoplossing komt. Ik citeer de volgende passage van de Jordaanse Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, Ayman Safadi, op 30 september 2024 bij een VN-conferentie:

De Wever is een ware sofist: alles wat hij zegt klinkt heel mooi en aannemelijk, tot ge het inhoudelijk analyseert. Wat er dan vaak overblijft is niets meer dan zever in pakskes
Bart De Wever, premier van sommige Belgen maar dan vooral van die met een zionistische agenda. Triest voor een partij die van zelfbeschikking voor volkeren haar corebusiness gemaakt heeft. Of moeten we vergeten hoe een Catalaans verzetsleider hier jaren op kosten van de belastingbetaler geleefd heeft met dat excuus?
