According to a [Newsbook article](https://newsbook.com.mt/en/liar-liar-pants-on-fire-releaf-accuses-government-of-fabricating-road-safety-claims/), ReLeaf has been trying to get a meeting with the government for 6 months but have been stonewalled (wouldn’t be the first time).

Here is my opinion as a cannabis user: I welcome these tests but just like how there is a legal limit for alcohol, there should be a legal limit for cannabis in terms of blood THC concentration. If the drug test for cannabis is simply a positive or negative test, that isn’t conclusive enough. In blood tests cannabis can remain for up to 6 months. What if a blood test is ordered and you took 1 joint 2 months ago? Should you be arrested for driving under the influence? Of course not.

Besides that, I feel that people are scapegoating cannabis driving as the cause of all these accidents when in fact they are mainly caused by drunk drivers and inattention. If the test for cannabis is a simple yes or no test, then the same should be applied for alcohol. **Remove the legal alcohol limit completely, make it 0**. Have the same weights and same measures

This is no different to “I’m a better driver when I’ve had a pint”.

And they’re right. We can’t judge impairment but we can avoid a free for all. Don’t drink or take drugs and drive, kids.
