Finally approved by Bord Pleanála after a 2012 rejection. Now onward to judicial review. I guess we might see a shovel in the ground in 2037.

I know it’s been mentioned before on many other projects, but it’s absolutely mind boggling that one person can hold up a project like that. You’d wonder if anything can even be build or started here with that approach.

I travel through Slane and surrounds regularly and I’m always a little taken aback at the lack of development of the village itself. Not even new development, but there are multiple buildings closed up. There are newish developments in at least one of the 4 historic crossroads houses that can only be bought for cash due to legal issues with management companies. Similar issues up the street with another small courtyard type development.
For a place situated so close to Dublin, Navan, Drogheda and NI so much more could be done with it. I’ve always suspected there are a small number of people holding things up or simply doing nothing for their area.
The proposed Slane Greenway that joins up the existing Boyne Valley Greenways seems to be stuck in an endless planning loop too.

Who is “member of the public”? You average Joe shouldn’t have an ability to massively delay an infrastructure project, it doesn’t make sense.
We need less democratic approach for projects and more authoritarian approach that actually works in China etc. For we urgently need a lot of structures to be built.
Bypasses are absolutely needed here in many places. Castlemartyr is the best example I know off.

This is why the ability to hold up infrastructure via judical review needs to be removed by either legislation or referendum asap. 23 preventable road deaths because this wasnt built and some gobshite wants to delay it more.

Name the member of the public or where can I find this information ?
Bet you will find they have objected to many developments before and probably don’t live in the area.

Oh fuck off, if a JR is being lodged then the details of such should be published immediately and all over the shop so we can see what plonker is being a stupid NIMBY so they can be publicly shunned.

We’ve sacrificed the country and its future in the name of “planning”. The monstrosity of a new Planning bill makes its torturous way through the legislative process, with the first priority being to spend money on a bloody name change showing how little interest the Government are taking in actually implementing any substantive change.
