Yet finding working DVD or VHS players nowadays is stupid hard. Unless you take them on AliExpress or something, but I’d rather not?

I do have lots of VHS and DVDs from when I was a kid that I’d like to rewatch.

  6. Just looking at the stupid amount of space DVDs take up in my house, and the amount of time I spend watching b Disney it is worth it.

Unfortunately, when you have kids, that’s the best service with lots of child-adapted content and which they can safely and easily use on any device – from tablets to TVs. And I think the fuckers from Disney are acutely aware of this, hence they act as a monopolist of sorts.
We’ll bite it for now, but everything has its limits.

P.S. in case my wife stumbles on this comment when she goes on Reddit 🙂 it’s not unfortunate that you have kids, it’s unfortunate that we have a limited choice of kids-content-rich streaming services.

I just pay Prime €25/year, and quite frankly theres enough on there to keep me entertained, for a while. My wife and her father down the road also watch it, at the same time, same price. It also comes with free Amazon delivery.

Unlike Netflix, Prime doesn’t care where you try watch it, they just show you local content. Prime also doesn’t seem to care about VPN use. I’m watching the original Miami Vice, from Prime Canada, for the same €25/year.

They do this because it’s still profitable. There is no long term thinking anymore except when they can pull the next ptice jump without losing enough users to make it unprofitable.

    Disney is stupid expensive.
I remember, in Covid days, I had the subscription and they still wanted to charge me €30 surplus for a movie that they releases (they obviously took a loss since theaters where closed, but wtf I already pay a subscription)
