The culprit has been found, now fine them a proper penalty.

It’s great that only the fish need the water. And the ecosystem. What a pile of pricks.

52 times the limit. Cancel their discharge license. Make them shut the place down

But.. but.. it’s a creamery… don’t the farmers love the environment?

The same place also had been caught dumping too much wastewater in June. They were also added to a list of EPA priority sites in 2024 due to ongoing compliance issues.

They obviously give zero shits about what their license says, or their impact on the environment.

Someone should be doing jail time here. This isn’t a mistake, this is willful disregard of the law with very real consequences.

We shouldn’t be discharging ammonia at all. The only safe level is 0.

Genuine question here, why are companies like this allowed just discharge into a river considering we well know the biohazard consequences if it goes wrong. Is it not better to have them store it and removed like any other hazardous material, or at least store the treated waste, and someone outside tests it to allow its release, it just seems a bit nuts if a system fails it can cause chaos on the environment as the only indication its failed its a massive fish kill.

They need to be absolutely hammered for this. Farmers will be up in arms but they need to be made an example of. This is utterly unacceptable.

The culprit should be made to restore the habitat, and made to pay to restock the river for X many years.

      Absolutely shocking stuff.

Can’t tell if its the same plant but it is the same company. The linked article shows a history of EPA related issues at this site.
