      >A Nottingham woman-beater got on top of his partner and repeatedly punched her face before demanding she not tell the police.

      >The victim was lying in bed when she was attacked by Waheed Barakzai who, after carrying out the assault, stripped her naked “to get rid of evidence” and snatched her phone from her.

      >The 27-year-old attacker’s victim said that after the incident, she took taxis rather than walk in fear she might come across him.

      >Handing him a nine-month jail term, suspended for 18 months, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: “Domestic violence is a terrible thing. People in their own homes with the people they love, expecting them to love them, are betrayed.

      >“You had been in a relationship with this lady for some time. You had been on holiday abroad together, and she is entitled to be expected to be treated with courtesy.

      >“Having awoken in the night, you thought someone had been downstairs and you overreacted badly to that as you were annoyed and frightened by that. You challenged her, she told you she had not been downstairs, you lost your temper, and you hit her.

      >“It is difficult to say how many times you struck her, but equally, it does not matter. She was hysterical, and instead of apologising to her, you forced her to undress so you could clean up and get rid of the evidence, and told her not to tell the police.

      >“If that is not enough to make you feel ashamed, I don’t know what is. You have come to this country from Afghanistan, and so you were traumatised to some extent by the time you arrived here.

      >“But whatever the morals are in your country, the morals in this country are that this kind of behaviour is not acceptable.”

      This can’t be real. 9 months…

“If that is not enough to make you feel ashamed, I don’t know what is. You have come to this country from Afghanistan, and so you were traumatised to some extent by the time you arrived here.

“But whatever the morals are in your country, the morals in this country are that this kind of behaviour is not acceptable.”

Did an actual judge give him a lesser sentence because the woman beater was from Afghanistan?

How long would a Nottingham born woman-beater get? Probably far more than 9 months. I’m pretty sure forcibly undressing someone is some sort of sexual assault too.

If it were so serious, don’t suspend the damn sentence. Unbelievable.
