Questo tronco fu portato dalla Germania quando i miei antenati immigrarono in Texas nel 1860. È stato tenuto in una fattoria fino a circa 20 anni fa quando la fattoria è crollata e il tronco è stato spostato in un fienile vicino. C’è una scrittura molto debole, che presumo sia tedesco, ma non conosco il tedesco e non posso farlo. Per quanto sia difficile da vedere nelle immagini, non è davvero meglio di persona.
Vorrei ripristinare questo tronco e mi piacerebbe poter ricreare le lettere. Qualcuno può distinguere quello che dice? Forse il nome della famiglia (che era Vogelsang, se questo aiuta) o destinazione (Galveston, Texas)? Grazie!

Back in the day whenever a woman was married off to a man they would normally move into a new home, this chest would generally be full of the things seen as necessities for life, such as silverware, cookwear, cloth, clothing, household tools, etc….
