Honestly this article is nothing but scaremongering and guilt tripping.

Air con is treated as a luxury in this country but is becoming more necessary due to how hot our houses get in summer.

You won’t get the average person rejecting comfort for the sake of the planet.

These articles continue to push the narrative that the common person is responsible for climate change and not the corporations.

We got aircon installed this winter, and it is the answer for us. We can set our 2 year old’s bedroom to 22 and she will fall asleep without crying. Our neighbours had their bedroom hit 37 at 22:00 during the hot part of this summer. There is no sense suffering that way if you can avoid it!

    3. Its gonna need to happen if summers like the one we just had are the new normal.

Our homes just arent built for 30c+ weather for weeks on end.

We’re going to need it. I’ll see if my local council can look into setting one up in my house.

Had an air to air heat pump installed earlier in the summer, running to units in each bedroom. Brilliantly effective at bringing the temperature down, and runs on only a few hundred watts of electricity.

More expensive upfront than the portable AC unit we’d tried previously, but that’n looks a bit naff in comparison. Not completely ineffective, but the difficulty of getting a proper seal (around the hot air hose to the window) meant we had almost as much warm air leaking in as cool air coming out of the unit.

I thought the Atlantic current is weakening and we’re going to experience much colder weather. I’m so confused about what changes are expected now. Is it getting hotter or colder here and are we going to experience more droughts or rising sea levels and more flooding?

We have central AC is the US of A. It’s good during the high humidity period of July/early aug but doesn’t get run during dryer humidity months, which can be just as warm. It’s not use when the air is dry but still hot. Then running a fan is just as good. As to whether it’s good or bad for the environment, I couldn’t give a damn.

    8. I have a cellar and it didn’t rise above 18c all summer or ever, maybe new builds with them could help..
