Reports From Residents
This weekend, the police in Tromsø received several reports from residents in the Tromsdalen district about an uninvited guest.
A physical troll, about one meter tall, had wandered into the area.
The police expelled the troll from the district and took it into custody.
The troll was not able to explain itself.
Searching for Its Identity
Therefore, the police took a tour around Tromsø city center in hopes of finding the troll’s identity.
“The patrol stopped by all the tourist shops and other tourist businesses in the city, asking if the troll belonged to them. So far, no one is missing a troll,” says June Wiesener, section leader in Troms Police District.
“Trollish Detainee” Waiting in the Cell
The troll ended up first in the holding cell at Tromsø police station, and then at the lost and found office.
The troll is just over one meter tall, sturdily built, and dressed in black knickers, a black-and-green vest, and a white jacket.
This type of troll is commonly seen in tourist shops.
The trollish detainee appears to be in good spirits.
But since no one in Tromsø has reported a missing troll, the police are now appealing via social media to find its origin.
“We hope to reach more people, because perhaps someone is indeed missing a troll. We hope the owner, or anyone who recognizes it, gets in touch,” says Wiesener.
If anyone is missing a troll, a “trollish detainee” is waiting at the lost and found at Tromsø police station.
A Rare Case
Wiesener says they don’t get many cases like this.
“It’s not often we have an extra troll lying around, but maybe someone has lost one. If we have the chance to take part in these more lighthearted cases, like this one, then we’re happy to do it.”
Among other characteristics, the troll has only one tooth.
It still appears to be in good spirits.
“It’s sad if someone has lost it. But it looks like it has spent a winter night outdoors before,” says the section leader.
