Whichever clown decided to suspend them should be sacked for gross incompetence or something, this is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read. Oh nevermind he’s already retired, take the payout from his pension I guess.

      > PC Jones and PC Tunnock were suspended by now-retired Asst Chief Constable Gary Ritchie

Of course he’s retired now. That’s one way out of getting the sack he deserves.

Just one more example of the root and branch change that’s needed to stamp out this kind of misandry.

The sexist picture was having a picture with a female celebrity whilst on duty.

What on earth. Am I missing something?

What a sorry state of affairs

That retired chief constable ought to be put through a mental health evaluation for his own sake. No one of sound mind could possibly have decided that suspending those 2 officers was a reasonable course of action

It’s not sexist, but it is slacking off at work and makes them look pretty unprofessional.

No time to respond to your house being burgled or your bike getting stolen, but time to pose for pictures with celebs, really bad optics imo.

    6. Gary Ritchie is a stinking example of what so many senior police officers are like, backstabbing self aggrandising scum who are dishonest, incompetent and entirely self interested.

Of course the backstabbing rat gets to retire with his full pension. At the very least this should be grounds for stripping him of his KPM, his long service and good conduct medal and all of the other bollocks accolades showered upon him.

I read the headline and the source and thought there must be more to this. As far as I can see, there isn’t. Here’s another source which states the same facts:

      https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/cops-pulled-duty-over-tallia-35826510

It’s notable that a female officer [was awarded nearly £1m](https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/may/13/police-scotland-pays-damages-ex-officer-rhona-malone-sexism-case) in 2022 for being the victim of sexism, whereas these 2 officers – also victims of sexism – won around £25k each.

Having seen the girl’s video, the officers deserved that payout. What are we doing suspending police officers for having pics with the public?!

Looks like a few women in professional standards were a little hurt over these photos.

      >could be perceived as sexist by having a picture taken with a female celebrity

      Absolutely deranged take

Honestly, this makes me so angry. Sarah Everad’s murdered, may he die in agony, was able to serve despite complaints against him, while these two are fired over trivial bullshit.

Yes, the bosses went too far but anyone who doesn’t understand why has either been in prison or a coma for the past five years. They were in uniform. They approached a woman for personal reasons. We all know about Sarah Everard and numerous other cases where police have given women unwelcome attention. Of course the bosses want to introduce no-tolerance for approaching women for personal reasons.
