Great. Citizenship for everyone, no UNRWA anymore, responsibility to fight terror by itself, etc.

As a Belgian citizen I am very angry this was not done before. Not sure what they were waiting for a couple more thousand’s deaths ? Let’s hope they don’t back down out of this one. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

I don’t know what is gained by recognizing a state that is clearly two states, one in Gaza ruled by Hamas, and one on the west bank ruled by Fatah.

The only important thing is to stop Israel.

I dont have a problem with this in theory; in practice, I think it is problematic thanks to the timing. Hamas and other terrorist organizations will see it as vindicating their actions, which are reprehensible, rather than what I believe the European (and other) powers probably think it is, which is recognizing a two-state solution.

from the outside Hamas is a terrorist organization. from the inside they are freedom rebels with public acceptance.
there is of little value to recognize a state which will have as a raison d’être to exterminate another state.
it is not just Hamas, the majority of Palestinians wants to exterminate Israel. it needs a situation where the, hypothetical, Palestinian authority must go against the will of the majority.
