Tragic story all round. The poor lads involved in this probably saw it as a bit of fun; who didn’t do really stupid shit when they were a kid? Now one’s dead and one’s life is changed forever. Horrible situation
Can’t say I’m surprised this shit doesn’t happen more often, the kids i see bombing around on these bikes and scooters with no protection is getting silly.
Christ, awful. What are the police even on though, arresting one of the other lads involved for dangerous driving

This is a tragic event but it’s kind of sick that people are using their kids deaths as a way to make some money.
Sadly this was always going to happen eventually. At least 15 years ago I remember seeing a viral video of some kids using a moped to spin a roundabout so fast the kid got slingshotted out of it. Saw another fairly recently where the kid got launched and missed a metal pole by inches.
I know it’s tempting to focus on the ebike but this is a really stupid game that bored kids have been doing for years.
We did this with 50cc mopeds when we were kids. Incredibly stupid thing to do back then and was lucky nobody died.
Rest in peace, that child.
Flashbacks to the rope swing antics for me, my brothers and friends 40 years ago at the same age as these kids. Some were climbing a tree higher than the apex of the swing to dive off and put the seat between their legs as they plummeted. The knot underneath the circular wood seat had begun to hollow the soil and the bottom of the arc, before dad saw and very quickly permanently ended the fun. Thank goodness there were no lasting injuries (including fertility).
