While there is a point, it lacks nuance. I smoke myself from time to time but it’s important to have etiquette and be aware of other. It’s good to stop overall but some people struggle.
Alan Cars book helped for many, I read it myself but wasn’t overly enthusiastic but it makes great arguments!

There is definitely a point. I smoke occasionally, but when I do, I make sure it doesn’t affect people around me.
Last weekend, I went to Schueberfouer and was shocked by the number of people smoking. They don’t even care that kids are close to them, even for babies. I find that’s a bad culture that doesn’t respect children and people around them.

Edit: Durian, Roquefort and hákarl stink and people feel super sophisticated when doing them. So what?

Let that blue hair person crying to everything on the internet. They’re only vocals on the web. Nothing to worry about.
You can call them Karens for your own fun, they don’t like that

Is he wrong?
It reeks and smokers reek, plain and simple. It’s nauseating and maybe even a trigger for people who quit/are trying to quit.
You may not like it and people won’t go out of their way to tell you that (especially because it would be uncivilized) and I’m only saying this in the impersonal sense, not trying to insult anyone. But it is a fact that it just stinks and is harmful for people around you. There are no positive aspects to it other than between smokers (social aspect).
Now objectively speaking, I don’t care about the health aspect if you smoke alone or are surrounded by other smokers. You do what you want in your privacy. But that smell goes with you wherever you go so you can’t be shocked if other people don’t enjoy being around it and actively avoid you.

They’re right. As long as the lungroasters do not breathe in my direction in confined spaces and keep their disgusting smoke out of my nostrils, I won’t resort to cursing them, their lineage and the (pack of) camel(s) they rode in on.

Now that’s an insane take!
