      Cynical me wonders if this is a diverted cry for help from someone who wants change but doesn’t know how to obtain it. A couple of weeks ago there was someone in France who lit his cigarette with the eternal flame under the Arc de Triomphe. Got a lot of media attention, I believe the guy’s residence permit was revoked and he was sent back to his home country.

      Could be that this is the scenario this person is hoping for.

      The dude who lit his cigarette in the eternal flame in paris got deported after national outcry. I don’t think anything will happen here.

      I can see how this is disrespectful to the monument. But we as a society have failed this man, and many like him, is even more disrespectful to the values the monument embodies.

      I can hardly believe the reactions here – even if some are meant as a joke. This is hugely disrespectful and should not be allowed to happen.

      Imagine burning certain flags or a certain book in Brussels and we’d have riots on our hands.
