I’m sure this will be great for the local economy and all, but I’d really rather we didn’t turn into Europe’s Orlando. I much prefer knowing we can ship off the absolute dangers that enjoy Disneyland and the like to Florida every summer, rather than have them hanging around here

Sounds great for investment in the U.K. and for local employment. Especially in the current economic climate. I look forward to the council rejecting the application because it will affect boomer house prices.

More positions for jobs, helps bring more spending into the local community. Hope it works out well.

Sounds like good international investment that will bring in jobs so nimbys especially oxfordshire nimbys will oppose it

Went to the one in France with the kids when they were much younger. Fantastic day. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Just hope the uk version is anywhere near as good.

>Plans for the site in Cherwell, near Bicester, include four period villages and 13 live shows. There would also be three on-site hotels themed to different eras of British history and a conference centre.
Sounds really cool, not what I was expecting at all.

Always wondered why the UK didn’t have more large scale history themed parks and shows. I’d love to see more of the ‘renaissance fair’ culture they have in the US. As a non British person, I absolutely love all the whimsy of British culture, folk tales and historical imagery.
Of course the joy of it would be that you’re not forced to attend (in before the “sounds awful” crowd makes their contribution)

As excited as I am for this sort of investment into the UK (alongside the Universal plans) I can’t help but feel it’s the slide of sterling and our slip down into a middle income country that is paving the way for our tourism industry.

Be nice if it were further north. Not like Oxfordshire struggles with unemployment. This and the one in Bedfordshire too.

I hope it’s actually French themed and all the staff wear stripey shirts and berets.

Puy Du Fou is by a distance the best theme park I went to as a kid; and I was lucky enough to do all the Disneys. Fuck that poncy castle, they have a fully functioning colosseum.
Went back with 4 mates last year, 30-something guys. It holds up and more, the beer helping. Its gonna be so frickin good, and I generally couldnt give a fuck about Alton towers etc.
The theatre shows are genuinely great; unique stages/machinations which suit the story.
I swear puy de foy are linked to the uk every couple of years.

If its not directly on a housing estate and they’re putting on buses etc which they are i dont see a problem myself.
Id rather something like this near me than the shit im getting, between our village and the next city they’re building non stop HGV parks full well knowing the road network cant cope with the current load (confirmed by highways as a major concern and they’ve stated this against planning applications current and in the past) yet they still go ahead.
These sort of things are exactly what the UK needs, provides jobs, money into the area, if its minimal disruption and the road network can handle it with added transport it sounds great to me.

Does this mean they are taking over the Great wolf lodge site? Or would it be a new site?

Been to a puy du fou park before (in france) and it was genuinely amazing and 37 euro for a full day ticket. I reaally hope we can pull it off but i imagine our tickets will be 3 times the price.
