      Honestly though, it’s wild that people are risking criminal charges just to sell some copper. Meanwhile, the rest of us are over here trying to remember if we unplugged our car…

      Guess it’s time for car chargers to come with mini security cameras and laser grids or something 😂

    2. Latest discussion in Germany suggested that this might not be theft, but instead sabotage done by petrol heads, who don’t like electric vehicles. The amount of copper in those cables is so low that there would be many better things to steal instead.

      It would be a shame if the 800V were accidentally applied permanently and the fuse only tripped at 125A…

      I think some chargers have a pressurised sleeve with a liquid dye in the cable like the dye packs banks use in money boxes?

      While not easy to develop, i think retractable cables are the most sensible option. The modifications or price increase should be covered by 2-3 “non” stolen cables.

    7. I don’t buy that it’s regular scrapping- I bet it’s the oil companies or someone at their behest. It’s just so clear.
