Especially the third point for combatting this seems super important.
We’ll never get rid of this problem if people keep getting raised in families that deny them an education and teach them that crime is the only way to make money.

The whole article seems to be struggling massively with the rather basic concept that vigilantism is illegal and unwelcome in most of the civilized world.

Knowing how italian police and judges don’t do shit to them they can even win in court lol.

They should probably not push their luck. There’s a lot worse that can be done to criminals than recording.

“Filming suspects and warning passersby” sounds nice, but it could equally mean filming and catcalling girls because ‘I believe they are suspects’.
It’s good to have a judge think about how to deal with this, especially because it puts the core problem in the spotlight: There is clear criminal activity in broad daylight without the police doing enough.

Very biased and misleading to say that “**pickpockets** sue citizen watchdogs” — to the point where it might be considered defamation.
If I was forcefully stopped by a wannabe vigilante (not police, but a random person) and baselessly accused of being a pickpocket, I would sue them too. If someone then wrote an article about me titled “**pickpockets** sue citizen watchdogs”, I would be looking into suing whoever wrote that article as well.
Edit: People who’re downvoting me clearly haven’t ever been falsely accused. I have been falsely accused of theft by a store once, and while I didn’t end up *suing* them, I did hire a lawyer and got the director of the store to verbally apologize to me and to put in writing that they take back their accusations of theft.

Well, if pickpockets are the real victims, my input is not needed anymore.

Sounds like the pickpockets need to start a union or something.
Maybe some sort of thieves guild?

Sure they can, if law enforcement isn’t doing its job who’s gonna stop them?
