Yeah but did he pay enough stamp tax?

Only thing my homies care about.

Hardly news when this is normal practice for media personalities and celebrities.

People working on TV don’t tend to be PAYE employees as the contracts are flexible and often include one off appearances. They tend to be either self employed or utilise a LTD company.

LTD companies are a better fit for someone’s that draws income from and invests into range of roles/business ventures

For the full story and The Guardian should let us know all the media personalities and celebrities that do this but then it would be pretty much all of them and a non story

Don’t tell me. All his earnings go to Nigel Farage ltd and he pays himself a wage/living expenses from the company. Just like every single celebrity does. Like every tax lawyer tells them to. This is not news. If you didn’t know this was going on for the last 100 years I don’t know how to help you.

He’s so obviously a sleazy rich guy, and it’s ridiculous that it’s never reported.

The reason Britain is suffering. Rich people won’t pay the tax they owe

Breaking News… Politicians discover new hobby called “Not Paying Tax”

What are the odds… Nigel Farage makes the Guardian for funnelling his GB News cash through a private company, magically turning a 40% income tax bill into a 25% corporation tax bill (plus some nice expenses written off). Id love to write off my expenses.

Angela Rayner situation will not go away, again in the headlines over her property dealings, council house sale, stamp duty tax avoidance, and even dipping into her disabled son’s trust money to buy a second home hundreds of miles away from her constituency, then calling it her “main residence.”

      You couldn’t make it up…

Feels a bit like the press are serving us a two for one special, one story for the right, one story for the left, everyone gets angry, and meanwhile HMRC is still rinsing the rest of us through PAYE every month.

      Political timing? Definitely.
      Genuine shock? Not really.

At this point it’s like spotting a duck in a pond. Of course it’s there…

Is this not just the same as any one man band electrician, builder, car dealer, salon, any sole director small business who is Ltd though? He’s using his “skill set” if you like to earn money and paying it into a company instead of as a sole trader. I don’t particularly agree with a lot of his views but you can’t fault him for utilising the system how it’s meant to be used.

If he actually wants use of that money, to spend in the pub for example, in his case he’d be paying the dividends tax (33.75%) on top of the corporation tax. This article only mentions the 25% corporation tax. Not his dividend tax.

It isn’t tax dodging at all, it’s running a business where his entertainment value is the product.

If that is the most dirt the Guardian can produce on Nigel Farage, its never going to be able to divert attention of Angela Rayner.

As everyone else has said, its normal practice to operate a limited company where you have income from numerous sources.

I assume the tabloids will be outraged and publish front page stories for the next week calling for his resignation?

    10. SilasBeit on

Lol we’ve had years of him and the Tories taking the piss. Hilarious how much fake outrage there is for Angela.

    11. narayan77 on

So what? He champions low taxation. He is an out and out capitalist.

    12. Realistic-River-1941 on

Isn’t this normal for media/celebrity types with multiple sources of income?

    13. Naturally. He’s simply an extremely selfish former commodity broker. If his current persona weren’t profitable for him, he wouldn’t bother.

    14. AutoPanda1096 on

Wait until you hear how much tax people avoid by using ISAs and pensions.

    15. TokyoBaguette on

So GB News as a whole is losing money, but it’s money well spent in terms of propaganda yet Farage, the individual, makes money AND tax avoids.

Farage is a clever man of the people.

    16. LiveLaughLockheed on

Wait till the tabloids hear about how many IR35 rule dodging people are STILL being contracted by the civil service and across the NHS. They’ll have a fit! So many people seem to be at it. Constantly hearing contractor friends bragging about it in good company
