Naive is the word she would use, absolutely foolish is the two I think of.

Kieran Cuddihy went fairly scorched earth on the candidates, really wasn’t letting anyone waffle or weasel out of a question easily.

Would absolutely love to see him demolish McGoober in a similar setting.

“Since Tuesday I have come to understand through conversations with people with vastly more experience in this type of campaign that I am unprepared for such an undertaking”

Always wise to have such conversations *after* publicly launching a campaign.

In other words, she realised how difficult it would be to win after entering the race just a month beforehand with zero preparation, zero campaign infrastructure, no party, no political networks etc.

I bet she reached out to a PR expert/campaign manager for help with her campaign and they talked some sense into her.

I saw some clips of her on Virgin media being questioned and she was just completely clueless. I don’t know what encouraged her to even go for it in the first place – ego? Fair play to her for coming back to reality and stepping back I suppose

A low bar but its nice to hear someone admit they’re in over their head and back out, especially when certain rapists can never admit that they’re completely clueless.

At least she faced the public. And expressed herself. Where is Jim gavin? Is he staying with dee forbes or something ? not a word… as for JD – Vibes of con in successsion. Logan had a word.

This is our generations JFK assassination moment…

“Where were you when Joanna Donnelly withdrew from the Presidential race?”

Alright, now lets down to the real business. Jean Byrne for President and/or Queen of Ireland.

She’s out of a job and any publicity she’ll take I reckon.

Bertie and Joanna out of the running in quick succession. And it was shaping up to be hugely entertaining. We can only hope Flatley and Geldof can manage to round up a few councils.

She doesn’t seem too well. I hope she’s alright.

Its such a silly campaign in Ireland. Our beloved Higgins nearly lost the campaign first time out because he basically said “none of what other candidates are saying is role of president” to a spud head turning it into chamber of commerce before made a shite of brown envelope question.

If we have learned anything from Higgins can it be your campaign should be simple. “I will be sound, speak up for vulnerable people and I will make half the population in ireland go ‘ahhh so cute” while the other half of men feel in absolutely no way threatened by him. Maybe bring a dog in and occasionally get caught at atm when taking money out for biscuits. Is that too luch to ask?

Is that too much to ask?

Excellent. Now if the rapist could do the same it would be splendid…..

Pretty inevitable. I don’t think anyone had her on their Aras bingo card. What in gods name was she thinking? Laughable.

car crash appearance on VM must have helped her arrive at this sensible decision

    17. She would have been under serious pressure during the debate stage…… not sure if that would be high or low.

Can we not bring back Jack Charlton to sort them all out?

    19. francescoli on

She was so clueless on tv the other night I felt sorry for her.

Even the interviewer seemed to be taking it easy after the first minutes as she was so out of her depth.

    20. Dapper-Ad9594 on

Definitely the wise decision, should never have put her name forward in the first place….crazy 😓

    21. bigbebby on

I saw her interview with Ciaran Cuddihy and my first instinct was this woman is not well, and someone needs to help her. I feel like she may have been struggling to come to terms with being dropped by Met Eireann and saw this as a way to stay relevant. I hope she’s ok.
