One of the few who seemed like a good one. Primary school teacher who refused to be referred to as “Her Royal Highness”, funded a charity for young musicians from low income homes. Once requested a seat in the Royal Box for the 12-year-old son of a bereaved friend but it was denied due to them having to ties to royalty and that was probably the biggest controversy of her life outside of being hacked by News International.

      Fair age but sad nonetheless.

Hate to hear this news this morning. She was a great lady.

RIP all the good UK Royals are dying off. I’m struggling to think of who is left who has a good work ethic and decent morals. No one is perfect but nearly all the “working royals” don’t fit that description.

Sad news. She was unfussy and unstuffy, and spent most of her working life teaching music. Whatever you may think about her position and title, she was someone who tried to help others and instil in them her passion for music.

Her funeral will be the first royal Catholic funeral for hundreds of years. Quite an historic moment

I only recently found out about her dropping her title and her weekly trips to teach music at a primary school in Hull, voluntarily, for 13 years. What a remarkable lady. You could just tell that she was kind and caring, she had one of those faces that showed her good nature. Beautiful inside and out.

I’m a middle aged man from Kent and I never even knew we had a Duchess.
