Apparently they detained her because Turkmenistan had an interpol red notice since 2002 on her for embezzlement, which she claims is politically motivated – something I can definitely believe, considering she’s criticised the regime and well, it’s Turkmenistan. Although I have no opinion on her otherwise, I am glad they didn’t send her to Turkmenistan.

Man, it’s almost as though Turkmenistan acts as a Russian proxy in pursuing it’s political opposition and extraditing her would be complicity in Russia’s oppression.
