MPs should be MPs. No second jobs at all, a complete ban. Only exceptions on a case by case basis, such as a Medical Doctor or Nurse needing to maintain their professional certifications, and then they would have to work for free in a hospital or NHS facility in their constituency.

I don’t remotely understand how it’s legal for MPs to run TV programs. It’s basically free political propaganda. I understand Ofcom tried to push back against GB News, only for the High Court to dismiss their complaints.
GB News needs to be closely monitored and punished for impartiality at every incident before it becomes an out of control misinformation beast like Fox News.
Won’t this break some party political broadcasting regulations? Maybe they only apply during an election cycle? If we were in an election cycle and you had one party leader with their own TV show that would surely be a problem when it comes to equal media coverage.

I’m just so tired of Labour politicians and supporters whining about how *unfair* the media environment in Britain is, and then doing fuck all about it. Starmer dropped any prospect of Leverson 2, he continues to regularly write articles in many of these ‘unfair’ publications. He has allowed a bunch of Tory hires to continue running the institutions supposed to check these sort of abuses. So clearly the Labour leadership fundamentally don’t give a shit here.
David Lammy’s LBC show whilst being an opposition MP was fine though was it? Labour’s blatant hypocrisy does them no favours.
