1. The estimated budget is between €3b and €10b. Which just gives immediate flashbacks to the children’s hospital. Presume this is just a budget buffer of €4b-€6b as the civil service will have hands all over this.
2. Big pay-outs to farmers too. Great process.
3. Why should the Shannon have to supply Dublin just because they’ve wrecked their own supplies. Nevermind the possible ecological impacts. Once the pipe is laid they’ll suck as much water to Dublin as possible. It’ll create untold disturbance further down stream.

Fair enough for using their land to pipe it.

At 3 billion its good value. At 10 billion its an overpriced piece of crap designed to screw the country.
Such a wildly different estimate.

The agreement reached with the Irish Farmers Assocation (IFA) and the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) is expected to greatly reduce the likelihood of objections to the 170km (105-mile) pipeline.

I worked on this for a time and was delighted to see the back of my input.

I know I’m but a simple, anonymous internet commentator, and not a highly paid consultant. However, given that much of the cost of this pipeline appears to be the land, would it not have made sense to simply run this thing alongside the existing motorway from Dublin Limerick?

Why not drill for water in Dublin, that’s what I’d love to know. Fantastic aquifers under and surrounding Dublin.
Too much to be made by landowners this way, is my reckoning.

It’s not the first time that the country has been gouged for Tipperary Water
