BYD will make every car it sells in Europe, in Europe – by 2028. This comes straight from the company’s EVP Stella Li, speaking at the Munich auto show.
This is obviously a response to the EU’s recently imposed super-tariffs on Chinese-made EVs. BYD’s factory in Hungary, which is in the EU, is expected to begin production by the end of this year.
Add transfer of technology, hire only local workers and we’ve got a deal, otherwise this is just a waste of time.
Earlier, there was information that BYD was building two factories: one in Turkey and one in Hungary.
In Hungary, semi-finished products will be shipped from Turkey to reduce the cost of production in Hungary.
What continent is The Continent?

Can’t believe we transitioned to super-tariffs already and nobody told me.
There is a huge tariff up to 35.5 percent on cars made in China because of the Chinese subsidies.

Offering worse cars for more money and hoping people buy them because they need to be thankful for something that happened in the past (and having the main focus on China as the biggest market), while China builds factories in Europe to go around tariffs.
And it will be built by Philipines/asian immigrants on work visa on minimum wage
So China is buying Russian gas, financially assisting Russias war on Europe, but also wants to build plants in europe?
Will it build the batteries in Europe ( full supply chain )? X doubt.

I don’t think we need Chinese car production in Europe. We have a lot of our own car companies. Buy European.

By “build” they mean “assembly from parts transported from China”. It’s been done by other companies.
There are more than enough production halls empty as the EU is effing up their own masterpiece economy for some nonsense climate change agenda!!!
