She’s 49 and still has a mortgage in a dirt cheap area in Kettering. Im sorry but if you need to still have a mortgage at 49 from that generation they did something wrong. I have many family and friends on low wage sole income providing for a family from that generation who paid off their mortgages by late 30s early 40s. Either she is lieing or she managed her money wrong if she still hasn’t paidnthe mortgage off at that age
Edit: I guess im wrong, people who I know in their late 40s in my circle on low income have paid their mortgages off late 30s. They all must have magical powers I guess. Cause Kettering aint no London the average house price back in 2003 in Kettering was cheap as chips
