It’s not “next” to Darndale, to be fair. There are some nice estates across the road, and Belmayne and those new houses are nice. If it were me, my biggest gripe would be the traffic and road situation. It’s an absolute shambles!

Been seeing these posts for 10+ years. “X amount in X place is madness” and i tend to agree but the reality is they keep going up and maintaining that attitude gets you nowhere if you want to buy.

Got a 4 bed last year was 355 (not in Dublin) and now same house is 415. It’s just shooting up everywhere and doesn’t seem like stopping

It’s a grand area and the houses look nice. Glenveagh seem to be building the best houses at the moment. Still an obscene amount of money but sure that’s the Irish property market.

The area is quite ugly.
They can make endless posh houses but eventually they all get bought by rich Irish couples renting them out or to real estate ventures.
The result is a sea of workers moving in and out constantly and having no interest in making community.
It’s like a ghetto but the new poor is young professionals from other countries.
This is the reality of Clongriffin and surrounding areas. The dart station can be quite depressing and rough in winter. I’ve seen lots of drug addicts and drunk people there too.

Remember when Toronto and Vancouver were the barometer for how expensive housing can get in a city because the average cost of housing was 1 million?
That was back in December, so it’s likely even worse now.
600k euro is 973k CAD.
There’s a weird cohort of users on here who deny how bad Ireland’s housing crisis is despite the mounting evidence. A lot of older homeowners unaffected by it, usually FG voters, also seem to deny the housing crises is as bad as it is.

Dublins been entirely priced out of help to buy now for anything not a 2 bed house.
Crazy. I had to bite the bullet on 515k to stay in my preferred area which means I’m losing out on essentially 30k.
What’s the bet they increase the help to buy limit after I draw down? I’ll be sick but then again at the same time at least my house would go up in value.

I distinctly remember, in the worst days of the financial crisis, a 3 bedroom end of row house in Darndale selling for €37,000

I’ve lived up here for 5 years. Had 0 issues. Prefer a new house rather than paying a fortune for a box that needs to have another 100k put into it to bring it up to scratch.
As this is on the cusp of the city extending into the suburbs, the roads, buses etc are lacking but it is changing. I think I saw a new route to Balgriffin last week.
