Heres a bit of whataboutism. Boys and girls hockey at international level is fully funded by parents. You have to buy their kit yes their Irish kit, pay for their trips away, and families have to go find raising to enable their games to happen. Including flights, and training sessions.
Roughly 6k a year per kid per year from under 16 upwards.
Wheres the outrage when young international players who have been picked to play for their country or province are subjected to these costs?
I understand hockey is the ‘poor relation’ in terms of sports, and certainly not as popular as the big three , soccer, gaa and rugby. Thats the way it is. However, when a country asks you to play and represent them on the international stage the very least is that their kit is provided for.
100€ a year from is a hard ask, not denying it, times are tough. My point being that there are always costs involved for sports and 100 a year, or 2€ a week isnt exactly news worthy in my opinion.
Slow news day is it?
