How many people go from Nicosia to troodos square to warrant a direct line?
On the other hand the bus network is pretty fucked.
I’m Nicosia, the actual busses are fine. They are more touring style, not metro transportation types, but workable.
But the issue is reliability. They’re busses, so traffic etc is a big factor. But there is no official live tracking app. Totally stupid.
Also there is no live ticketing system. So there’s no tracking how many people get on where and till what destination. So the routes are just kind of made up without that information, just finger in the air guesses. For example many peopleay be using segments of longer routes for shorter journeys. But without this insight, you’re never going to know that a shorter express buss route is better and would also cut journey times on the longer route.
The success of park and ride schemes shows people are willing to take busses, but as long as they are predictable and reliable.
Odysseas makes a good point, but he mises the forest for trees in this case.
