This guy is pretty plainly a national security threat. Even before he broadcast his incitement to violence to 110k flag-draped ‘Tommy’ fans he was completely unsuitable.

    2. The US Federal Government wouldn’t be able to do this because of the First Amendment, thereby proving we don’t have free speech on anywhere near the same level.

He called for a violent overthrow of the government. If Labour had anything about them they’d do something about it. As is, it’ll probably be just words.

Quite funny that the anti-immigration protestors are cheering a foreigner calling for the overthrow of a democratically elected British government though

Whats actually the point of this given Tesla basically isn’t involved in government contracts at all? Now Twitter that’d be different, and also far more relevant to the far right.

The brand is toxic anyhow so wont have much of customer base. Its a win win to strike elon out of any contracts

This isn’t popular to say but we should be looking at Twitter not Tesla, thats the part fanning the far right.

Calling for banning Tesla from government contracts is just performative, because they aren’t even really involved in government contracts. We might as well ban them from doing stage plays while we’re at it.

      Um, yes?

Ffs if procurement guidelines don’t include “not inciting civil unrest” then what are they for?

    8. Quercus_rover on

Inciting violence to achieve a political goal? That’s textbook terrorism isn’t it? Never mind that though, those 80 year old terrorists holding placards aren’t gonna arrest themselves!

    9. Willywonka5725 on

He shouldn’t be being considered anyway after his nonsense in the USA. His edgelord call to violence should have him arrested if he ever steps foot in the country again.

Starmer can’t, without Trump hitting the UK with tariffs and/or throwing other deals we have under the bus.

      Or at least threatening it.

As has been said ad fucking nauseam, the UK was *greatly* weakened by Brexit and now have to grovel for trade deals.

I think we should block Tesla because they are overly-expensive cars.

    12. I think he needs to raise this with Trump during his visit.  Ask Donald what would he do if he were in this position, and a billionaire was using his influence to suggest removing Trump and the republican party?

I don’t think he would take very kindly to it.

Musk isn’t wrong, the order of the state is not what the people want and the only means the state ever has to get it’s order is violence. So long as that is true then ‘violence is coming’ is a true statement.. How it comes and how they use lies to sell it to complacent people isn’t certain, but there is no other way to get their order than violence.

I don’t agree it’ll kill all that many people, the technological means to utterly destroy someone exists, the gatekeeping to finance, and communication or freedom of movement is all sealed behind modern technology. If you can’t buy food, if you can’t travel at certain times or in certain places, if you can’t communicate with others, your socially and politically dead, and that is good enough.

Should ban sales of new Tesla’s to the uk and stop them operating in the UK.
Plenty of other electric cars. Many of them better than Tesla at everything Tesla’s do.

    15. jodrellbank_pants on

Yep once he’s in the contract will be expensive to get rid of.
      The guys a nut job

    16. MrSoapbox on

Yes, he is meddling too much. Agree with doing that.

But stop calling it a “Far right” rally. Yes, there was some far right people there, doesn’t make the majority of them. The fact the media keeps calling it that, is just pushing more people towards it because you’re (trying and failing) to imply anyone against the shear amount of immigration, is far right – which is 70% of the population.

With that said. The government should stop using Twitter, because guess which group this app favours?

Maybe not immediately but come on, try getting some start up of British developers to create a different version and promote it. Regardless, you’re at the mercy of Musk by using twitter.

it’s unacceptable what he is doing, start getting a backbone.
