Is the ‘far’ right simply right not allowed to exist even if they aren’t breaking any laws?
Can someone explain to me what the difference is between right and far right?
It feels like if you’re not left you’re categorised as far right?
I know, asking on reddit is a death sentence.
“Akeela Ahmed, chief executive of the British Muslim Trust, says events like the ‘unite the kingdom’ rally ‘are causing deep unease”
And all these Muslim societies in the UK aren’t causing deep unease?
We don’t want your religious claptrap, it’s only recently we’ve had the better of the Church.
Well, exactly three decades ago I moved to the UK – and, among many other things, I left behind unspeakable levels of chauvinism and discrimination against my (European white) ethnic minority. Years went by and… one feels stuck in a time loop where within a few years the worst xenophobia, racism, obsessive plastic nationalism (not underpinned by even the most basic knowledge of language, history that the plastic “patriots” are so proud of) comes back to the forefront… with even the national TV channel playing into their hands and using false bias, as a classic logical fallacy, to push their agenda. So it is a surreal feeling – exactly the same words, phrases, utterly idiotic thought patterns are heard and seen by me, just in a different language.
Why do they always show a well dressed elderly Sikh man for these propaganda pieces.
Why don’t we have any news sources which aren’t ideologically aligned.
Why is my feed full of obnoxious people from the right, and identity morphs on the left?
Why do I only ever see bad news?
Why am I asking soo many questions? Why am I going off topic?
‘Far-right’ lost all meaning when the Guardian and other media outlets decided any protest opposing immigration was far-right
Yes, there may be genuine nasty people organising and taking part in some of these protests, but most people who take part in them or quietly support them are just people who want the low immigration they’ve consistently voted for, and definitely don’t want any illegal immigration.
I was surprised Farage took so long to come around to mass deportations of illegal migrants; public opinion has been there for a while. Not uncommon to hear people calling for the small boats to be shot, and that’s where opinion will keep going if these issues aren’t addressed
The far right are awful. People are entitled to voice concerns about the impact of immigration on our infrastructure and the fact that the beliefs of some individuals simply aren’t compatible with modern western liberal society.
Said it in another post
Stop the boats > stop illegal immigrants > stop immigrants > stop Muslims > stop brown people > stop anyone who can’t trace their lineage back to (ironically) William the conqueror.
That’s how it goes, the goalposts just move. It’s exactly what the Nazis did. Goebells was an expert in this . He worked out you can’t go from A – Z but if you get people to accept that A to B is ok. Then B to C isn’t a stretch and on and on. It’s how Germany was manipulated into the third reich.
Extreme left and extreme right are kindred spirits as they disregard their neighbours opinions and wish to achieve their goals at all costs. They are both dictatorial, fundamental and lack compromise.
Unite the Kingdom is literally named so to invoke the USA’s Unite the Right, a protest that was full of people pulling Seig Heils, shouting ‘blood and soil’ and waving both Confederate and Nazi flags.
If you want to invoke or be associated with that, well, you’re a far right bigot and scum.
You’re telling me that a rally named after the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville that was entirely white supremacist, is far-right?
A group led by a convicted violent football hooligan, by two speakers that were found guilty libel, and a fourth convicted of assault and under investigation for non-payment of tax?
Being right-wing is a grift. Do bad shit, become a prominent right-winger, claim that being investigated for bad-shit is a witch hunt by the mainstream
I left the US because I saw people lose their fucking mind when Obama got elected and basically drop any pretense by going full court on the racism. The Tea Party also started by just spouting concerns about minorities and immigration.
Almost 15 yrs later, I’m seeing you native Brits perform the same bullshit song and dance. And when I point it out, I get waved off with insipid quips about how I don’t need to worry because I’m an expat. That line between “good” and “bad” immigrant is a goalpost easily moved.
Even calling it Far-Right gives it too much legitimacy, it’s racism and it should not be acceptable
I watched a video before of some guy at the rally saying we have black English football players in a “look I’m not racist” way. Good luck with that…
The thing with these “far right” rallies is that people don’t realise what they are actually asking for. There are the “I want to sort out illegal immigration” types and there are the “I want no immigration” types and then there are the “I want a white Britain” types. What most of these people don’t understand is that they are all the same thing. The final outcome is going be a “far right” government who will do “far right” things. They won’t stop at illegal immigration. They won’t stop taking our rights because our rights are also their rights.
I agree the “far right” is being legitimised but the scary part is that the media are now also legitimising them.
All the people in the comments playing innocent like this wasn’t a violent far right process based entirely on racism and founded on evoking the current rise of extremist politics in the US can are outing themselves as massive racists right now.
Right wing – we want less immigration
Far right- we want death camps for anoyone who is not like us
This is why no one pays attention when they’re called far right. The power has gone from the words because they have been wrongly used
Just look at all the people defending the lunatics hanging and painting flags everywhere. They’re shrugging it off as harmless patriotism, and not a deeply concerning act of thinly-veiled racism.
The lack of serious political action against Musk when he repeatedly and proudly did the nazi salute legitimises the far right. 1000s of people cheering him on in the heart of London doesn’t help.
Literally none has mentioned that this rally was lead by Tommy Robinson
If you think he’s anything but far right then you are too far gone
I’ll say it, then.
Everyone is sick and tired, fed up to the back teeth, of first and foremost considering the feelings of minorities ahead of anything else. The unwavering dedication from our media and political classes to continually bleating concerns about absolutely any group except the majority is part of what’s radicalising people.
Nobody gives a shit about muslim hikers not seeing enough people with their skin colour on the trails, and other dross. We are fatigued of hearing about and being told to care about every group except our own.
