I am curious what the “conservatives” from CDU/CSU have to say, in theory they are the biggest German party, right? From my country only Stefanuta (from the EU greens) and ironically Terhes (a scumbag from the extremists) answered being against chat control, the others are literally shitheads that lower their heads and go with the flow for not responding/having an opinion.

One of my MEPs informed me that negotiations were still in the hands of every nation’s central government. IMHO, every European citizen should email their government in order to pressure them. Especially the undecided ones. We should continue to pressure the MEPs as well.

Here’s what ChatGPT thinks it says in English, appreciate any human that can verify or correct:

      Hello,

Thank you very much for your message and your commitment to digital rights and the protection of privacy. The Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament shares your concerns and firmly rejects the so-called “chat control” proposal.

**1. Why we reject “chat control”**
The Greens/EFA Group is fundamentally opposed to any attempts to introduce mass surveillance of European citizens. The original proposal of the European Commission would have enabled indiscriminate scanning of private messages, emails, and chats of all people. This would amount to blanket surveillance of innocent people and would put every person under general suspicion. Such measures are neither necessary nor proportionate – they directly violate the fundamental rights to privacy and confidentiality of communication, as enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.

We reject the dangerous logic that security can only be achieved by undermining the privacy of millions of innocent people. Mass surveillance does not make us safer – instead, it opens the door to abuse, false accusations, and loss of trust in digital communication. Even worse: it would create a dangerous precedent for authoritarian practices, which have no place in a democracy.

**2. Our approach: Targeted measures instead of mass surveillance**
Most recently, thanks in part to our efforts, the European Parliament has again clearly rejected any form of indiscriminate surveillance. Scans should only be permitted if there are concrete, individual suspicions against specific persons – not against the general public. Encryption, a cornerstone of secure digital communication, must be preserved. At the same time, we advocate effective measures to protect children – such as easier reporting channels, safer platforms, and targeted law enforcement – without sacrificing rights and freedoms.

**3. The current debate in the Council**
The real threat currently comes from the Council of the European Union, where some governments are trying to revive mass surveillance under the guise of child protection. The Danish Council Presidency is aggressively pushing for a vote on a proposal that would, in fact, legalize mass surveillance – even though the Council’s own legal service has warned of the illegality of such measures under EU law.

It is clear: mass surveillance is not a solution to child abuse. It is a dangerous misstep that puts everyone’s privacy at risk without addressing the actual causes or really helping those affected. That’s why we are appealing to citizens to keep up the pressure – not only on Members of the European Parliament, but especially on national governments and the responsible Ministers of the Interior and Digital Affairs.

      **4. Our commitment**
The Greens/EFA Group stands for the protection of privacy, digital security, and children’s rights. We will continue to fight against any introduction of mass surveillance in the EU and rely on the support of committed citizens.

Once again, thank you very much for your engaged message! Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. HOW about we label ever political party that pushes for Private message control !

That was we can label who is really , really bad !

    7. Krt3k-Offline on

This is what we want, but not unexpected from the greens, who already said they would vote against. The actual party that needs to be convinced are the social democrats, but they need to negotiate with the conservatives as they are part of the current government
