I didn’t check but I’m quite sure you’re right. That’s what I would assume/do at least.
The picture shows a ”cykelöverfart” so you dont need to get off the bike when crossing. But a regular ”övergångsställe” without the white squares. You always need to get off the bike when crossing.
bike lanes can cross I think, almost certain.
But walking the bike with your kid is safer for the kid when you aren’t around.
edit: It’s obviously just someone with a bad day, most people do not act that way.
* **Cykelpassager:** you need to give way (get off bike if you want to be given way)
* **Cykelöverfart**: cars need to give you way regardless if you’re on the bike or not
Find out exactly what kind of passage is on your street and you will have your answer.

PS. Driver sounds like a douche for even bothering you with this.
The old woman doesnt know the traffic rules.
The broad lines are for pedestrians. The “empty” space between the broad lines (to the left) and the short square/lines are for biking.
If you are in the empty” space you should sit on the bike. If you are on the broad lines, you should walk with your bike beside you.
If you and your son were on your bike, in the “empty space”, no problem. If you were on your bikes, on the broad lines, you should’ve stepped down.
In Sweden, children up to 7(?) years old may bike on the pavement. But are of course allowed on regular bike roads.
(Bonus lesson: On combined bike and walking roads, always bike to the right and walk to the left. Surprisingly many adults walk on the right on those roads…)
I’m gonna take a guess and say she’s a miserable old person whose only joy in life is complaining.
I’d wager she’s dead set on being right, because she thinks you’re setting a bad example. If your kid were to be out biking themselves, they’ll more than likey also pass over the road like you two did (and there’s nothing wrong with it) but might not be as alert on upcoming cars and cars might not see the kid so well if they’re short.
All in all, you’re not wrong, she’s just an ass and probably bite down on being so out of a precived safety reason from her perspective as a teacher and driver.
The thing is bicycle crossings is a new thing, this was not the norm before.
It still good to learn your kid to guide the bike over the road as when they are young they dont know difference between a crosswalk and crosswalk with a bike lane. Older generation was taught this up until the 2000.
If you guide your bike when crossing a regular crosswalk the cars need to stop for the kid/person, but that not true if you are on the bike.
The picture that is shown shows a “**Cykelöverfart**” where cars have to give way. Please note that it’s the sign with the man on a bike that makes it a “**Cykelöverfart**” and there uncommon. In most cases it’s just a “**Cykelpassage**” and you have to get of the bike if you want to have right of way.
