Una delle cose che ho adorato del sistema di trasporto pubblico di Helsinki è la metropolitana. Molte stazioni, in particolare su Länsimetro (stazioni a ovest di Ruoholahti che sono state aperte negli ultimi 5-10 anni) sembravano molto gentili e moderni. Ma la sezione sotterranea originale ha anche grandi stazioni – e la mia stazione della metropolitana preferita a Helsinki è, senza dubbio, Kamppi (la stazione in cui è stata scattata le foto di questo post). Una bella stazione con roccia esposta e intagliata che mi ricorda felicemente le meravigliose stazioni di linea blu di Stoccolma Metro in un modo!

Not many people know that Kamppi was built as an interchange station – there is an another platform below the currently used one, crossing at right angle. The other line was just never constructed so it’s just an empty platform with tunnel stubs.
Still, would be interesting to see that platform as well. For obvious reasons it’s not open to public.

Nittykumpu’s metro station is also really beautiful! I love Lauttasaari too.

Munkkivuori. It is repurposed, but I like the coziness of it. While ridong the escalator I can almost hear the sound of a subway accelerating.
