Speculated it before, but have wondered if the sole purpose of this is to drain Hand’s finances and drive her penury. There can’t be any real legal value in chasing all this; though the law firms get paid either way so maybe they’re just happy to pocket McGregor’s cash and work some money for old rope.

could someone please explain how he didn’t get locked up for punching that old man in the pub? I don’t understand the justice system here. It’s odd.

    5. >[McGregor’s lawyer] said that McGregor’s application “focuses on his Constitutional right to silence, properly exercised on occasions and enshrined both in Bunreacht na hÉireann and the European Convention on Human Rights.”

If only he’d exercise that right more often.

Ireland still has both civil and criminal law against maintenance and champerty. Champerty is financing someone else’s case for profit. Maintenance is more or less financing someone else’s case not of direct interest to you in order to be difficult bollix. I would really love to see McGregor charged with criminal maintenance for financing Lawrence’s court actions.

He’s going to keep using his money to challenge it indefinitely, until he can win some sort of small victory, and that will be plastered all over the media as if he is innocent.
