If this is true asking to employee a few people to run your office is entirely reasonable.

This seems like a pretty reasonable request – whether you agree with her politics or not, she’s the elected Mayor for one million people.
Those voters have a right to try and contact her, and just like MPs and Ministers, she’s obviously not going to have the time to respond to every email individually. A couple of staff in her office to draft responses and manage her diary is hardly a lavish luxury for a senior politician.

I have more more emails than that a month, plus, she could get a junior for 20 or 30k a year to sort those emails out.

Hold up! She a Dame? And won an election to be Mayor somewhere? Wow. The things you miss when ignoring what where once irrelevant and idiot tories.

Can’t she get the Reform DOGE to find the savings for her?
Isn’t that what she promised the electorate? Less cost, not more?
Or perhaps those naughty people in Lincolnshire could stop emailing her, asking her to do her fucking job?

Say there is 20 weekdays in a month, that’s 125 emails a day, that’s not 147k a year worth of work, if it was I’d be a millionaire. Sure if she has no staff she should get some but its not adding up, where are the staff that were involved in her election? she must have had a PA etc.

She already has an office budget of £115,000 a year for precisely this – which is the same amount that former PM’s can draw to similarly employ staff.
Why does it suddenly need to increase 127%?

I deeply dislike Jenkyns, but if you don’t have any staff, £150k to hire a few administrators isn’t really an absurd expense.

I’m more curious how they managed to overspend so much on running the actual election..

How many of those emails will get the same generic response? Most.
