*A charity that has helped so many during their worst time.*
Duddy was involved in a fundraising event after a family member died abroad.
A sum of £2,600 was raised but Duddy, as the event organiser, kept the money. Suspicions were raised by the defendant’s niece, who reported the missing money to the police.
Following her arrest and admissions, Duddy told a probation officer, who prepared a pre-sentence report for the sentencing hearing, that she accepted full responsibility.
She told the probation officer: “I had a gambling problem and it’s all my fault. My wedding was in tatters. I know I owe the money.
”They stated in the report: “She took full responsibility for the loss of the money and has shown a high level of remorse and regret and apologised to the Trust.”
The court was told that Duddy spent the £2,600 when gambling on gaming machines in Co Donegal.
big potato head on her
That actually sickens me, the KBRT is such a great organisation and has a special place in my heart. I know gambling is an addiction but it’s soo low to steal from a charity like that, she better have to pay the money back if she’s not doing jail.
A great charity that works very hard for people in awful situations
That charity is the very best of us.
Paddy Power and their ilk could do much more.
Puts their madlad, online banter in a very different light
I know it’s a shocking thing to do for such a worthwhile charity. Gambling is such a horrible addiction, the shame she must have felt. That’s why I wouldn’t support the likes of the cashcall that’s advertised constantly on radio stations
Theft from any charity should be automatic jail time in my opinion because it can have the knock on effect of delegitimising them in the eyes of the public.
sad story but a fantastic charity
I mean no one died…. Oh wait….
Have a pal that spent a while in an addiction centre for alcohol abuse.
Said that over half tbe people in there, were there for gambling addiction.
Of all the groups to steal from, fuck sake.
